History of the Group “Agatha Christie”

Today I would like to tell you about the legendary rock group "Agatha Christie": the history of its formation, the most famous works, decay, as well as the time after the breakdown. During the existence of the group, Agatha Christie participants released ten albums, the most successful of which are the “shameful star” of 1993, and the 1995 opium album, respectively. “Opium” by the way, officially and to this day is considered the best album of the group, for which there are a number of reasons.
The genres of music in which the team works according to Wikipedia is quite extensive: Gothic rock, post-rock, psychedelic rock, art-rocker. This immediately speaks of the nature of many songs of the team. Many of them have a rather gloomy, depressive mood, which completely does not prevent the team from creating light, perky compositions. However, to deny the fact that some compositions may seem to someone too gloomy-black, it will not work. For example, a quote from my beloved song “Opium for nobody”:

Agree, the song is not the brightest and kind. Perhaps, in its coloring, not as gloomy as the same widely known “look from the screen” of the Nautilus Pompilius group, or the “wings” of the same group (if you take the same year of release with the song “Agatha”), however, a specific depression is still specific. However, unlike all modern musicians with whom the agata’s work intersects in terms of emotional mood, it is easy to notice that for some reason, for some reason, such songs are mostly performed by all sorts of “typo-punk” groups under the incontinent cries, screams and gusts of decibel. Agatha Christie has everything calmly and evenly. Most likely, this fact is due to the time when the group released the bulk of their songs. This is confirmed by the fact that in the modern work of the former "Agatha" there is about such a cabzad, which I described above, which I will talk about later. If we talk about the tracks of a positive orientation, then personally I first recall the composition “Decadance”, or “Shameful Star” from the album of the same name.

Despite the absolutely “lively” sound at the concert, some, I’m not afraid, a hint of a heavyweight and the presence at every moment of the group’s life in its composition and drummer, bassist, guitarist, etc.D., In the studio record, synthetic sound from the synthesizer will prevail. Perhaps someone does not seem to be a minus, someone generally likes the studiya at all, but it seems to me that the abundance of unnatural sound is not justified. As far as I know, this is the “chip” of the group, but the most concert versions of songs are mostly “live” are performed entirely. At the same time, this tendency to replace half of the instruments with synthetic analogues stretch through all the albums of the group. Shocks are certainly, because even in the last album of 2009, not every song has real drums in every song. However, it is worth recognizing that the sound of the songs themselves shifted towards a much heavier, and natural instruments were greatly increased. The history of the team

So that he would not be lost on stage and does not interfere with more experienced participants, Vadim advised his brother to play while sitting on a chair that Gleb also did in the process of subsequent concerts. This strangeness has become a kind of "chip" of the team, and also gave rise to a lot. The younger Samoilov got up from the chair for the first time in the process of the concert in 1995. In the next few years, musicians were actively engaged in creativity. The second album of the group was the record “Ogliness and Love”, after the recording of which the group gained some popularity. A special success was waiting for musicians at the 3rd festival of the Sverdlovsk rock club, where they met Vyacheslav Butusov (Nautilus Pompilius) and Andrei Makarevich (“Time Machine”). Having overwritten the album, the group actively toured the country, and in 1989 went to represent the Soviet rock in Glasgow. In 1991, the group received a Grand Prix and a cash prize at the festival in France "Open du Rock".

In 1990, the group recorded a new album called "decadence", which was accepted … not that cool, but rather indifferently. We tried this album after the group gained solid popularity. During the years of the release of these two albums, the composition of the group was greatly changed, but in the end a new order of musicians was formed, which did not change 10 years. The group included: Vadim Samoilov (vocals, bass, guitars), Gleb Samoilov (vocals, bass, guitars), Alexander Kozlov (keyboards), Andrey Kotov (shock). And together with the new composition came and glory.
In 1993, the light saw the album "Patient Star", one, by the way, from the first musical products published in Russia on compact disks. The record has become a real hit, and some songs from the album to this day are the “visiting card” of the group. The songs “Like in the War” and “Hysterki” since the release of the album were performed at almost every concert, the song “I will be there” became the final part of any subsequent concert of the team. Personally, I am sorry that at the same time the compositions “freely”, “shameful star”, “Ailave”, which virtually did not play, went into the shadow.
Interesting fact: the most famous and popular song of the team “Like in the war”, which I have already mentioned many times, was written by Gleb Samoilov, and initially he did not want to share her with colleagues in the group, saving for a solo album. However, having learned that all the group members to the upcoming album are laid out to the maximum, he brought the lyrics to the studio.
In general, the album collected excellent reviews, the group toured Russia with great success, and the same “as in war” took first place in the results of a journalistic survey among the population in 1995. The album was recognized in the homeland of musicians. For example, Vyacheslav Butusov invited Senior Samoilov to help with the production of the new album of Nautilus Pompilius, Titanic, and also persistently recommended the album of Agatha Christie to all his colleagues.
But the popularity that the “shameful star” brought to the group cannot be compared with an enthusiastic reaction after the release of opium album in 1995. Seriously, you can take half of the album and all this will be the songs that were performed at every concert, the songs with which many people associate the Agatha Christie group. Such famous songs of the collective as: “Haligalikrishna”, “Eternal Love”, “Black Moon”, and, of course, the immortal “fairy taiga” and “opium for nobody” came out on this album. The song "Fairy Taiga", by the way, was withstood in the style of the 80s, and also contained references to the past work of the group. Also, a nostalgic clip dedicated to the memory of the great Soviet film director Leonid Gaidai was shot for this song.
The further work of the group was quite even. In the period from 1995 to 2001, the albums “Hurricane”, “Miracles” and “Main Kaif” were released?". Also during this period, the group begins to cooperate with various filmmakers. The songs "Agatha Christie" appear in the films "Brother-2" and "Sisters". Especially for the second film, the song "Bullet" was written.
2001 marked a terrible event for a musical team. On March 1, the keyboard player died from atherosclerosis, and part -time one of the founders of Agatha Christie Alexander Kozlov. This tragedy was a very big blow to the members of the group, who stated that they were not going to look for replacements, so the keyboards in all songs were performed by the sequences on the live performances of the group. Only by 2009 a new keyboard player and bass player Konstantin Bekrev was accepted into the group.

The next few years, the musicians have little engaged in creative activities. Their main activities were joint performances with other musicians. In 2003, the team turned 15, in honor of which a festive concert was held in Luzhniki. Only in 2004, the group members released a new album called "Thriller: Part 1". It was originally planned to release two parts of this album, but after the participants abandoned this idea. The album was well greeted by the public, and the songs “Thriller” and “In the interests of the revolution” were occupied by leading places in the charts of “Our Radio”. Personally, I liked this album much more than that came out after the “opium”. I would like to separately note the songs "Kill Love" and "So far".

After the release of the “thriller”, there was an obvious discrepancy between the directions of the work of the two main persons of the group – the Samoilov brothers. Gleb often begins to spend solo creative evenings. Vadim launched the Rockhero project, whose purpose was to help young
musicians. At the “Invasion” of 2008, participants in this project were presented to the public.
In the fall of 2008, changes occurred in the group again. Instead of Andrei Kotov, Dmitry Khakimov came to the place of the drummer. The participants explained this by the fact that they want to try to use real drums in their records, while with Kotov they performed songs only at concerts. However, despite the recent changes on February 2, 2009, the news appeared on the official website of the group that the work of the team is moving into the final stage. The answer to the predictable question of this event was the fact that the Samoilov brothers began to treat many things differently. It became difficult for them to find the points of contact, which makes further joint work problematic. For example, views in politics diverged greatly. Vadim Samoilov was a trustee in.IN. Putin in the 2012 presidential election, while Gleb always supported a radical opposition.
From April to December 2009, an epilogue tour with large concerts with large concerts in Moscow and St. Petersburg was held (the latter was even broadcast on TV), and after a farewell concert at the “invasion of 2010” the album “Epiloga” itself was on sale. I find it very good, and in particular the composition "Epilogue", "Password", "Head". An interesting feature of the album is that in it there are practically no hints that, in fact, this is the last album of the group, in addition, respectively, a song with the name speaking for itself. Nowadays, this album for some reason is absent in iTunes Store, so the owners of Apple devices who want to get acquainted with this album I can only advise loading the archive with music from any other site.

Participants after the collapse of the group
After the collapse of the group, its participants went completely different roads. Gleb Samoilov, together with the drummer and keyboard player of Agatha Christie, founded the Gleb Samoiloff & The Matrixx team, and later simply “The Matrixx”. The creativity of the group is just what I previously described. Gleb, previously sang in a calm voice in many songs, breaks into a hysterical cry, which personally interferes with me quite much when listening to music, but thank God the precedents is not too much. In my opinion, the main and undeniable advantage of the new group is music. It is music, not texts/vocals. Texts in general a separate topic. Each second composition “The Matrixx” is a squeeze of all depressed, gloomy and black from Agatha Christie ”. Judge for yourself:

And yet the songs “The Matrixx” I also listen to periodically not without pleasure, but this thing is very strong. I consider one of the programs “Musical Ring” to NTV with a separate wine “The Matrixx”, where the Samoilov group was pushed with … no matter how ridiculously “wounds”.
